NEW RELEASES
Sam Smith - "Too Good At Goodbyes"
From what is one of the most anticipated albums of 2017, Sam Smith has finally given us a glimpse into his next body of work. The 25-year-old London native has taken time, laying low between releasing his debut Grammy-winning album In The Lonely Hour, and has now returned to deliver the first single "Too Good At Goodbyes" from his yet-to-be-titled second studio album.
In "Too Good At Goodbyes," we hear Sam singing about an impending breakup. He croons, "Every time you hurt me/The less that I cry/Every time you walk out/The less I love you/Baby, we don't stand a chance/It's sad, but it's true."
During an interview with iHeartRadio, Sam reveals that the song was inspired by the end of a relationship he once had. He said, "Too Good At Goodbyes" was, in fact, inspired by the end of a relationship that Sam had, although he says he's not the one who broke it off. He tells us, "This song is about a relationship I was in, and just my mindset towards the end of the relationship. I didn’t end it, but…"
ZAYN & Sia - "Dusk Till Dawn"
ZAYN has teamed up with Sia for a brand-new single called "Dusk Till Dawn," which and takes a turn in pace from the R&B sounds of his debut album, Mind of Mind. "Dusk Till Dawn" was co-written by the pair and Greg Kurstin, and hears the the former One Direction bandmate singing about being there for his lover at all times of the day over some pop/rock production. Sia chimes in for some harmonizing, but ZAYN is the driving force behind this one. "But you'll never be alone/ I'll be with you from dusk till dawn/ I'll be with you from dusk till dawn/ Baby, I am right here," they sing during the chorus. In addition to the release of the song, a big- udget video for the track dropped and it features Girls star Jemima Kirke caught in a suspenseful action-packed narrative with ZAYN.
Kelly Clarkson - "Love So Soft"
Kelly Clarkson's new single might be called "Love So Soft," but the song -- which is fans' first taste of her new album -- is strong, soulful, and powerful. With the soaring vocals of her singers, Bridget Sarai, Nicole Hurst and Jessi Collins backing her, Kelly's own powerhouse voice shines through in this new single. "Love So Soft" boasts a retro soul feel, until the bass-driven chorus, where Kelly sings, "Love so soft, you ain't had nothing softer/Break it then you buy it/And it sure gonna cost ya."
"Love So Soft" is the first single from Kelly's upcoming eighth studio album Meaning of Life, which is set to be released on October 27th via Atlantic Records -- her first full-length record on the label.
Demi Lovato - "You Don't Do It For Me Anymore"
Demi Lovato has learned from her mistakes and moved on from a former lover in her new song, "You Don't Do It For Me Anymore," which is the latest buzz track off her new album, Tell Me You Love Me. "You Don't Do It For Me Anymore" dropped on Friday and is a refreshing serving from Lovato. As one of the more vocally talented ladies in her pop class, the 25-year-old offers her vocals in a way that's emotional and powerful, but without some of the over-the-top dramatics that typically come with a Lovato ballad. "I won't fall for your games/ So don't hate me when I say/That you don't do it for me anymore/ No, you don't do it for me anymore," she sings during the Jonas Jeberg and Anton Kuhl-produced hook.
G-Eazy featuring Cardi B & A$AP Rocky - "No Limit"
G-Eazy is gearing up to release his highly-anticipated double album The Beautiful And Damned, and today (Sept. 7), Young Gerald is sharing a song from the record called "No Limit." The new track, produced by Boi-1da, features rising rap star Cardi B and A$AP Rocky. G-Eazy gave fans a taste of "No Limit" during an intimate show in New Orleans recently, which was part of Bud Light's Dive Bar Tour, also bringing out Cardi B to perform the song live for the first time. The Bay area rapper told UPROXX of working with Cardi:
"I’m a super fan of her and everything she’s doing right now is incredible. I think she represents where music is today. It’s real, it’s raw, it’s honest, it’s pure. It’s not contrived, it’s not overly thought out or put together. It’s just what the youth is reacting to, what the culture is reacting to, what sounds and feels good. You know? What sounds and feels good is what’s working. Her music’s incredible. Her whole personality, her energy, everything."
Imagine Dragons featuring K.Flay - "Thunder (Remix)"
Earlier this summer, Imagine Dragons dropped their third studio album Evolve, which features their single "Thunder." Fast forward a few months, and the band has released a new version of their song featuring singer/songwriter K.Flay (also the first artist signed to Dan Reynolds' Night Street Records imprint). Dan Reynolds recently told V Magazine of the "Thunder" remix:
"I love how K.Flay deconstructed the song and made it her own. It definitely has her unique subtle twist. She stayed true to her dark and minimalist approach while also adding her raspy iconic voice and storytelling."
U2 - "You're The Best Thing About Me"
In 2014, U2 gave us Songs of Innocence, but in 2017, the iconic rock band is giving us Songs of Experience (their 14th studio album) -- and the first official single "You're The Best Thing About Me" has officially arrived. "You're The Best Thing About Me" follows "The Blackout," which is also set to be featured on Songs of Experience that the band shared last week as a gift to fans.
According to U2's website Songs of Experience is Song of Innocence's companion, and the album titles were inspired by a collection of poems, 'Songs of Innocence and Experience,' by the 18th century English mystic and poet William Blake. The band's site also says that this new album is "a collection of songs in the form of intimate letters to places and people close to the singer’s heart; family, friends, fans, himself." And, in fact, the cover art of their new single, "You're The Best Thing About Me," features an image of The Edge's daughter Sian.
Foo Fighters - "The Line"
Foo Fighters are dropping their ninth studio Concrete and Gold on September 15th, and the band has shared another new track from the record called "The Line." According to Rolling Stone, Dave Grohl described "The Line" as "a search for hope in this day and age where you feel as if you're fighting for your life with every passing moment, and everything is on the line." In fact, in the song's chorus he sings, "The tears in your eyes/Someday will dry/We fight for our lives/'Cause everything's on the line/This time."
George Michael - "Fantasy" featuring Nile Rodgers
Just a few months shy of the one-year anniversary of his untimely death, new(ish) George Michael material has surfaced with the help of legendary producer Nile Rodgers. On Friday, "Fantasy," which appeared as a B-side to 1990's "Freedom '90" 12-inch and on the 2011 deluxe edition of Faith, premiered on Chris Evans' BBC Radio 2 show, but it's not just an old outtake. Even though the reimagined cut features the groove of the original, you can also hear some new guitar additions from Rodgers. It also appears to feature previously unheard vocals. "Fantasy" will appear on the re-release of Listen Without Prejudice/MTV Unplugged, which is due October 20.
Blake Shelton - "I'll Name The Dogs"
Blake Shelton has returned to deliver a brand new single. Fans got an exclusive sneak peek yesterday during a behind-the-scenes video, but the full song has finally arrived. In the mid-tempo love song, Blake sings, "I'll hang the pictures, you hang the stars/You pick the paint, I'll pick a guitar/Sing you a song out there with the crickets and the frogs/You name the babies and I'll name the dogs."
"I'll Name The Dogs" is Blake's first new single since releasing his 2016 album If I'm Honest. Blake explained that his new song is a "throw-back" for him, and describes the track as "traditional" country. He said, "'I'll Name The Dogs' is a bit of a throw-back song for me. It’s traditional country with fiddle and steel and I’ve got Jimmy Olander from Diamond Rio playing the guitar solo. It brings the sound back a little more traditional for a minute, which I felt like needed to happen musically for me.”
Thomas Rhett - Life Changes
Thomas Rhett's third studio album, appropriately titled Life Changes, has officially arrived. The record features 14 new songs, including lead single "Craving You" featuring Maren Morris and his latest, "Unforgettable. Life Changes also includes a song co-written and sung by Thomas' father, country star Rhett Akins, called "Drink A Little Beer."
On Life Changes, Thomas worked with a few different producers, including Dann Huff, Jesse Frasure, Julian Bunetta (who was One Direction's producer) and Joe London. The album was influenced by a number of genres from country, to rock, to R&B, to EDM.
Kip Moore - Slowheart
Kip Moore released his third studio album Slowheart, the followup to 2015's Wild Ones. Slowheart includes 13 new songs, including its lead single "More Girls LIke You," and is his first song to include outside songs, meaning, not written by Kip himself ("The Bull" and "Plead The Fifth"). And the last track on Slowheart, "Guitar Man," Kip describes as his "life story." He told Rolling Stone in an interview:
"That song is my life story. I remember being that guy, having all those dreams. Constantly feeling like, 'Am I ever going to get where I want to get?' And that night, I overheard someone say, 'Man, that guy is good.' No one knew his name, he was faceless. I just remember being him, giving everybody the time of their lives one night. And then I would go home by myself and feel empty, because there was so much more I could accomplish."
Afrojack featuring Belly, O.T. Genasis & Ricky Breaker - "No Tomorrow"
Afrojack is back with a brand new single, and it's another mega-collab with Belly, O.T. Genasis and Ricky Breaker called "No Tomorrow." If you've ever heard the mantra "Live like there's no tomorrow," this song is that in anthem form. In fact, Belly sings in the chorus, "We gettin' lit just like there's no tomorrow." The "No Tomorrow" music video also illustrates the song's message pretty well, taking place during a wild mansion party.
Starrah x Diplo - "Swerve"
Strarrah is attempting to jumpstart her way onto the scene and she has a superstar like Diplo to help her out. After the EDM heavyweight revealed tthat the duo would be gearing up for a collaborative project in June, "Swerve" surfaces onto the blogosphere, giving us a brief glimpse of what the two may be cooking. Atop some minimal production, the budding pop star boasts about her lover, revealing that she’s saving all that good stuff for said indivudual. "And my lil' baby swerve on 'em, swerve on 'em, yeah/ Swervin', hit them curbs on 'em, curbs on 'em, yeah/ In the coupe like a bird on 'em, bird on 'em, yeah," she sings during the hook.
Beck - "Up All Night"
Beck is releasing his 13th album, Colors, on October 13th, and is sharing another new song from the record, "Up All Night." The new single follows fellow Colors tracks "Dear Life," "Wow," and "Dreams," respectively. Fans may be familiar with "Up All Night," as a different version of the song was featured as part of the soundtrack to EA Sports' soccer video game "FIFA 17." The track was also used in a commercial for Fossil's line of smartwatches. But this new version is the song that will be included on Beck's Colors album.
Not only do fans have the new song, but they can also watch its cinematic official music video. The "Up All Night" visual shows an armor and shield adorned girl, played by French actress Solène Rigot, on her quest to save her friend (played by Pedro Attenborough), who is passed out on a pool table at the most wild party you've ever seen -- like a knight in shining armor.
SZA - "Quicksand"
Besides teasing a deluxe edition of CTRL, SZA has shared a brand-new song called "Quicksand," which you can find on the highly-anticipated soundtrack to HBO's hit show, Insecure. "Quicksand" clocks in at four-minute and hears the TDE songstress singing about her fear of love over some laid back R&B production. After just a few minutes into the song, it's clear that it's from the CTRL sessions, which Insecure star and creator Issa Rae spoke about on Twitter. "We got sent this SZA track before the album came out and I was in LOVEEEE," Rae revealed in July. "Lowkey the whole album could be on the show."
St. Vincent - "Los Ageless"
St. Vincent announced her fifth studio album Masseduction (pronounced "Mass Seduction"), which follows her 2014 self-titled album, and with the big reveal came a new song called "Los Ageless." The title is a play on the city of Los Angeles, as St. Vincent sings in the very first line of the '80s influenced song, "In Los Ageless, the winter never comes."
The first single from Masseduction, a piano ballad, is also named after a city: "New York." Speaking of which, the new album was produced there by St. Vincent and Jack Antonoff, and is set to be released on October 13th.
The National - Sleep Well Beast
The National have returned with a brand new album, Sleep Well Beast, the native Ohio band's seventh full-length LP. Sleep Well Beast follows 2013's Trouble Will Find Me, and features 12 new songs like lead single "The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness," current single "Day I Die," and the previously released "Guilty Party" and "Carin at the Liquor Store."
The guys currently live all over the world in cities like Copenhagen, Paris, Los Angeles, New York and their place of genesis, Ohio. As a result, Sleep Well Beast was recorded in many of these different places. But it all came together at guitarist Aaron Dessner's place. The National's lead singer, Matt Berninger, explains to iHeartRadio that the band's new record was put together in a barn behind Aaron's house -- presumably the building on the Sleep Well Beast album cover artwork, showing the band inside in a studio setting. Matt says:
"Sleep Well Beast was recorded in a lot of different places: Berlin, LA, in a church upstate. But then it ultimately was all sort of brought together in a barn near a pond behind Aaron's house in a studio he built called Long Pond. And that's where it all [was] glued together, and turned into this record."
Sleeping with Sirens - "Trouble"
Sleeping with Sirens' new album Gossip is almost here. On September 22nd, the band will drop their fifth full-length studio album, and have shared another new track from the record called "Trouble." As you can imagine, the song is all about being in trouble. Lead singer Kellin Quinn sings in the chorus, "I'm in too deep, I sold my soul/I'm out of reach and I can't let go/I'm in trouble, I'm in trouble."
Quinn had this to say about Sleeping with Sirens' upcoming album Gossip, during an interview with Alt Press, "I think [it’s about] being lost and then finding hope. It’s a dark record. It sounds dark, but there’s a hopefulness in everything. That’s always something I’ve tried to do as a vocalist. When I write about a sad topic, I always want there to be a light at the end of the tunnel."
Poo Bear featuring Anitta - "Will I See You"
Brazilian singer Anitta has been working on her first English language album, and has debuted her collaboration with Justin Bieber/Skrillex collaborator Poo Bear, "Will I See You." The song starts off with just the acoustic guitar, but as the song goes on, some Latin-influenced percussion drops in. Anitta sings in the chorus, "When it's all said and done, will I see you?/Now that my love is on/All the way on you, I won't turn it off."
Anitta recently told Billboard of the new song, "I’m really excited to finally show everyone what we’ve been working on. Poo Bear is very talented and we had a lot of fun making this song. This was a new challenge for me, but I enjoyed it and I’m happy with what we made."
Young Martha (Carnage & Young Thug) featuring Meek Mill - "Homie"
Though both are mega-successful recording artists in their own right, DJ Carnage and Young Thug decided to join forces to create a group named Young Martha. In support of their new union, the pair released the song “Homie” featuring Meek Mill. "Fuck n**ga try me in any angle/ I'mma shoot him and turn him into an angel," Thugga raps. The track’s video is also glorious. It starts off fine; until things take a turn for the worse and a certain someone’s lifeless body is discovered. It’s a rap horror.
Robin Schulz & Hugel - "I Believe I'm Fine"
Robin Schulz and Hugel have combined forces for one colossal collab called “I Believe I’m Fine,” which raises Schulz' bar for that feel-food euphoria material. It’s a almost four-minute cut, which hears the acts push for a better time in efforts of moving on from a heartbreak. You can hear this one in the flesh when Schulz continues his touring hustle across venues in promotion for his upcoming LP, Uncovered, which is due at September 29.
dvsn - "mood"
Just a month ago, dvsn shared its cover art for its upcoming project Morning After. Now, we’re getting a little bit more of a taste for the soon-to-be released body of work, thanks to the duo’s latest single “Mood.” In true dvsn fashion, it’s a smooth track that’ll leave you begging for more. It tells a story of a relationship’s many ups and down, though the couple still wants to work things out… and ultimately get back to making sweet love. Listen to the sexy song ASAP. You’ll be thanking us later. It’ll be your new favorite track!
ILOVEMAKONNEN featuring Rae Sremmurd - "Love"
ILOVEMAKONNEN wants to stay far away from love, thanks to an ex breaking his heart in his latest single “Love.” The track features the Black Beatles themselves Rae Sremmurd. In the song, ILOVEMAKONNEN and says that he’s now “heartless” and that he’s in no need whatsoever for a “donor.” He’s really through. "I'm the type of guy, kinda used to bad luck/ I start to see a little different lookin' back on us/ You seem to have a lot of pride as we accept defeat/ You said you had another ride from leavin' me," he sings.
3LAU - "Star Crossed"
Producer/DJ 3LAU has shown off another side to his versatile production skills with his gorgeous new single called "Star Crossed." The song incorporates some awesome '80s influences synths, and is about the end of a relationship that just wasn't meant to be. "We're not star crossed lovers/Don't tell me that it feels like love when it's not," a female vocalist sings in the chorus.
Perhaps the icing on the cake is just how great this is, because the best part of all is that 3LAU is taking proceeds from streaming and sales of "Star Crossed," and donating it to hurricane and disaster relief efforts. He wrote on Instagram, "All $ from streams & sales will go to hurricane & disaster relief efforts. Anyone can help, just by listening."
Lil Durk featuring Future & Jeezy - "Goofy"
Chicago Lil Durk joined forces with Atlanta rappers Future and Jeezy to create “Goofy.” Durk released this earlier last week. But, he was later inspired to drop the hot music video for the song, as well, and we’re glad he did. Future rap/sings the catchy chorus, while Durk and Jeezy spit their hot verses in all black everything. Lil Durk’s collaborative project with Lil Reese called Supa Vultures was released just last month. Shout out to him for staying busy.
Klingande - "Pumped Up"
Foster The People may have dropped a new album this year, but what is one of their biggest hits, "Pumped Up Kicks" has received a makeover seven years later, courtesy of French producer/DJ Klingande. In this new version, Klingande takes the already dance-worthy original and turns it into a lighter house version, using a female vocal instead, with some whistling melodies to give it a softer touch.
Maty Noyes - "Say It To My Face"
Maty Noyes keeps her buzzworthy presence going with her new track, “Say It To My Face,” and it’s all about those feel-good vibes. "Go on and say it to my face then/ Say it to my face then I want to feel something/ Get mad maybe start complaining,” she sings during the uptempo hook. "This song is a really good representation of where I'm at in my life right now," Noyes told Flaunt. "I feel like every song I've put out has been a small part in a big story. 'Say It To My Face' is a new beginning. It's a song I feel everyone can relate to in a way and has a great beat that's easy to dance along with.”
Dustin Lynch - Current Mood
What's your current mood? Let Dustin Lynch tell you -- that's the title of his third studio album. Current Mood follows 2014's sophomore LP Where It's At. The new album features 13 new songs, including Dustin's current single "Small Town Boy," as well as other previously released tracks like "Seein' Red," "Why We Call Each Other," and "Love Me Or Leave Me Alone."
Kane Brown - "Found You"
Budding country artist Kane Brown released his self-titled debut album back in December 2016, and is preparing to release a deluxe version featuring four new tracks in the beginning of October, one of them being his brand new song "Found You." If you've ever heard the phrase "Everything happens for a reason," Kane's new song is basically about that. He sings in the chorus, "No, I'd of never found you/At that random house party that I didn't even wanna go to/The way you move/Had me first time feelin' in awhile I should make one too/Sometimes the finish line is just the start of something new."
Terror Jr. - "Holding Your Tongue"
Terror Jr. continue their tactic to continuously release new tune after new tune with the release of "Holding Your Tongue," which appears on their forthcoming EP, Bop 3: The Girl Who Cried Purple, due on September 29. It's a electro pop anthem that finds the act tackling the potentially end a relationship from a woman’s perspective. Terror Jr. will promote the upcoming project with a brand-new tour. It all kicks off in October and will include shows in Toronto, Chicago, Brooklyn and Los Angeles.
Kevin Gates - "Had To"
Serving a 30-month sentence in prison isn't stopping Kevin Gates from releasing new work. The rapper dropped “Had To” just a day after he dropped his music video for “What If” along with a letter to his fans. In his note, he said: "Disallow yourselves to be troubled in my time of absence. All of the great ones who came before and will come after me: Have had to go through this."
"By this I’m speaking in reference to hardship. A great a person is measured by all of the great tests they can undergo and still remain true to who they are. With that being said 'I'm Him.' I love you all. In closing I remain the same." Listen to “Had To” below. It’ll be on his By Any Means album dropping Sept. 21.
EMERGING ARTIST OF THE WEEK: Rachel Crow
You may already know Rachel Crow from the very first season of The X Factor. The then-13-year-old finished in 5th place overall, but since then, Rachel has gone on to appear on multiple TV shows and movies, and now, is preparing to release some new music, beginning with her new single "Dime." Rachel tells iHeartRadio of her new single "Dime":
"'Dime' is a cool song. 'Dime' was my sassy way of saying goodbye to the people that have done you wrong or made you feel like you're not as great as you are. I think you should definitely remain humble and kind, but you should still have a confidence to you that says nobody's going to mess with me and that's what my song is about. It's definitely the most fun and upbeat thing that I've done, and I'm really happy to show everyone what that was about. Performing it is cool because I can kind of give an inside look as to how I feel about this song. I feel like with music videos, sometimes it's still hard to see how the person is really feeling, and this song was my nice way to say goodbye."
Originally from Colorado, Rachel actually sang her first song at just 18 months old. It was Faith Hill's 1999 hit "Breathe," and at six, her musical interests continued and she sang in her school's talent show. Then, at 12 years old, Rachel moved with her parents to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the performing arts, and the following year auditioned for The X Factor -- she was the first to audition and was chosen as a contestant out of over 150,000 people who auditioned for season 1. At 13 years old, that's impressive.
Rachel's influences include artists like Kendrick Lamar, Etta James, Eminem, and SZA, among others. And if you liked "Dime," Rachel is planning to release an EP by the end of the year.

Hailee Steinfeld & Alesso featuring Florida Georgia Line & watt - "Let Me Go"
You know when you see that some of your favorite artists are coming together, and you just know you're gonna love it? That's this song. Pop singer Hailee Steinfeld, producer/DJ Alesso, country music duo Florida Georgia Line and guitarist watt have come together for a new awesome crossover mega-collab called "Let Me Go." This track is exciting, number one because it blends so many different genres together, and number two, because you would never expect ALL of those genres to mesh together so well -- but they absolutely do.
R3HAB & Quintino - "I Just Can't"
R3HAB has does it again. Over the last few weeks, in preparation for the release of his album Trouble, the producer/DJ has been dropping awesome song after awesome song, and this week he's delivered a collaboration with Dutch DJ/producer Quintino called "I Just Can't" ... and I just can't stop listening to it (see what I did there 😏). In a press release, this track was described as an "emotional roller coaster ride" and gives fans "further insight onto R3HAB’s musical journey," and I believe this to be extremely true. Hearing how his music has evolved over the years has been thrilling, and I can't wait to hear the rest of his new album next week.

Miguel - "Shockandawe"
After dropping "Sky Walker," a collaboration with Travis Scott, in late August, Miguel has unleashed a second song titled "Shockandawe" on Thursday. On the two-and-a-half-minute track, the R&B singer makes some subtle references to the global landscape. It's not an overtly political track as the crooner tosses around lyrics about getting down and dirty with his lover, but it's enough to make you at least double think. Atop some Neptunes-esuqe production, the 31-year-old keeps the track's grungy efforts at the forefront. "Bang bang, baby, break yourself/ Lose control when I take the world/ I dropped the bomb/ Did I take your bomb/ Just shock and awe," he sings during the hook.
Tove Lo - "Disco T*ts"
Tove Lo is feeling red hot with her gloriously-titled new single, "Disco T*ts," which dropped on Friday and is sure to press some buttons. For her comeback track, the Swedish pop star takes a page from disco and trance genres with the help of her longtime collaborators The Struts, who were responsible for past hits "Habits (Stay High)" and "Talking Body." "I'm sweatin' from head to toe/ I'm wet through all my clothes/ I'm fully charged, nipples are hard/ Ready to go," she croons during the pulsating chorus before a dog bark rounds out the section of the track. "Disco T*ts is about losing yourself with your new found love," she said in a press statement. "Naive, excited, no consequences. The happiness in the haze I’m feelin right now." You can find "Disco T*ts" on Tove's forthcoming LP, Blue Lips [Lady Wood Phase II], which drops this fall via Island Records.
