New Music Report - New Releases Week of August 7th

Happy Monday! Kickstart your week ahead by checking out all of the new music that has just been released in this roundup of new music that you need to be listening to. From new albums by Brett Eldredge and Dylan Scott, to new songs from Kesha and American Authors, to new collaborations from Camila Cabello & Quavo and Bebe Rexha, Gucci Mane & 2 Chainz, take a look at this week's New Releases.

Camila Cabello - "Havana" featuring Young Thug & "OMG featuring "Quavo

OMG ... Camila Cabello just brought the Havana heat! (see what we did there 😏) Camila just dropped two new songs from her upcoming solo debut album The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving., called "Havana" featuring Young Thug and "OMG" featuring Quavo, and they are hot, hot, hot.

Camila teased the two tracks earlier this week via social media, double feature movie style with a few photos and short clip, but now, the full songs are finally here. "Havana" will make you want to hop on a plane and go visit Cuba's capital city immediately. The song was co-written by Pharrell Williams and features Atlanta rapper Young Thug. Over latin-influenced piano riffs & rhythm, Camila sings, "Havana, ooh na-na/Half of my heart is in Havana, ooh-na-na." In case you didn't already know, Camila was born in Cuba. Meanwhile, the more hip hop driven "OMG" features Migos rapper Quavo and sees Camila sounding a bit like Rihanna on the track, which was produced by Stargate.

Kesha - "Hymn"

With atmospheric production from Ricky Reed and Jonny Price, Kesha takes all the outsiders by their hands for the sing-a-long “Hymn," which connects in more ways than one. Clocking in at three and a half minutes, "Hymn" is warm, triumphant and feels all-too-appropriate for this next stage in the comeback kid's career. "This is a hymn for the hymnless, kids with no religion/ Yeah, we keep on sinning, yeah, we keep on singing/ Flying down the highway, backseat of the Hyundai/ Pull it to the front, let it run, we don't valet," Kesha sings during the hook.

Bebe Rexha featuring Gucci Mane & 2 Chainz - "That's It"

After helping Louis Tomlinson out with “Back to You,” Bebe Rexha links up with Gucci Mane and 2 Chainz for her trap-fueld single called “That’s It.” For this cut, the pop star spits her game about celebrity lifestyle, sharing bits about dodging paparazzi and her overload of jewelry. Gucci and Tity Boi follow suit with their own cocky bars and it eventually just becomes a who’s who of the pop and rap world. You can catch “That’s It” on the pop star’s upcoming All Your Fault Pt. 2 EP, which drops August 11.

Brett Eldredge - Brett Eldredge

Brett Eldredge released his self-titled third studio album, and it's "the album [he's] been waiting to make for a long time," he said of the record during an interview with iHeartRadio. Brett's new album follows his 2016 holiday album Glow and his 2015 studio album Illinois, and showcases 12 new very truthful, personal songs. These include lead single "Somethin' I'm Good At," along with other previously released tracks like "Love Someone," "The Long Way," "No Stopping You," and one of his favorites: "Castaway."

The Illinois-born country explained of his new album, "I wanted to make this album that big career album. I've had two really successful albums. Now people know me and my music, and now I want to show them what I really got. And not that I didn't before, but this is the album I've been waiting to make for a long time, and I think it'll show."

G-Eazy featuring Jadakiss - "Get A Bag"

G-Eazy teamed up with Jadakiss to give us “Get A Bag.” This new track is one of four songs that the Cali rapper dropped last week. Throughout the hit, G-Eazy raps about the weight that’s on his shoulders to always make sure that his people are straight and need nothing. "My number one is making sure that mom's straight/ My whole family eating off of this plate," he spits. "Death is a guarantee, that's for certain," Jadakiss adds in his verse. "Faith in the god, but the devil won't stop lurkin'."

The Weeknd featuring Young Thug & A$AP Rocky - "Reminder (Remix)"

The Weeknd recruited A$AP Rocky and Young Thug for "Reminder (Remix)." If you can recall, the original "Reminder" was the fourth single released from Weeknd's 2016 album, Starboy. The singer clearly wanted to add some extra flavor to the track and did so with the help of the two rappers. We aren't mad at him either. The brand new spin on the track sounds hot. It'll definitely be on repeat for a minute.

Weeknd takes some shots at some R&B singers with his lyrics. "Whip game, make a n**ga understand though/ Got that Hannibal, Silence of the Lambo/ Hit the gas so hard make it rotate/ All my n**gas blew up like a propane/ All these R&B n**gas be so lame/ Got a sweet Asian chick, she go Lo Mein."

Wrabel - "The Village"

Wrabel is standing up for the LGBTQ community with his new single, "The Village," and the accompanying music video is a powerful piece that finds a fitting spot in today's landscape. Clocking in at four minutes, "The Village" is a moving ballad about the struggle that the community encounters when dealing with the lack of acceptance from their family or, to quote the song, from the entire village. Wrabel keeps the narrative of the Dano Cerny directed-clip in line with the track by casting August Aiden to portray a transgender high school student who is struggling with his family's lack of embrace. After taking to his art as an escape from the pain, the video star shaves his head in a moment of liberation, only to enrage his parents but find a peaceful moment of solitude as he runs outside and sees a flock of birds.

Neon Trees - "Feel Good"

Neon Trees are approaching a brand new era in their career and their single, “Feel Good,” does the most appropriate things. As the lead single from the band’s as-yet-untitled fourth studio effort, which is set for release later this year, the track was inspired by lead singer Tyler Glenn’s moment of solitude when the bandmate was having trouble getting out of a funk. “I turned to music like I always do, and wrote 'Feel Good' at a time when I was feeling pretty low. I think beyond who’s right and who’s wrong about everything going on in the world, there’s a human desire in all of us to feel ok, to FEEL GOOD,” he said in an official statement. Relatable.

Starrah & Diplo - "Imperfections"

After announcing a joint project with Diplo, eyes have been pinned closely to Starrah. Unfortunately, a release date surrounding the collaboration has yet to surface. However, we do have a small taste of the upcoming magic, courtesy of they new single called “Imperfections.” As one might guess, the cut is devoted to accepting a lover with all the flaws and, ahem, imperfections that they might have. Sure, it might sound a little too gushy, but the energetic trap-inspired production makes it all too perfect for the dance floor.

DJ Sliink + Skrillex + Wale - "Saint Laurent"

A week after dropping "Would You Ever," his new track with Poo Bear, Skrillex is back at it again with another awesome collab with DJ Sliink and Wale called "Saint Laurent," out via Skrillex's OWSLA label. Unlike breezy dance track "Would You Ever," "Saint Laurent" is more hip hop leaning and features Sliink's signature Jersey Club sound.

Skrillex told Billboard of his new mega collaboration, "DJ Sliink's sound is one of the most influential styles in mainstream music and most people don't know it. I'm just honored to be a part of his original vision and help him with the beat. And props to Wale for showing love to the underground and f***kin' with Jersey Club!"

Rae Sremmurd - "Perplexing Pegasus"

Surprise, surprise! The self-proclaimed “Black Beatles” released a brand new song called “Perplexing Pegasus.” The rap duo’s longtime friend and producer Mike Will Made-It produced this new track. It tells of how Rae Sremmurd figuratively “spread their wings” in the business. We’re not 100% if this song will be their next project SremmLife 3, as of yet. Either way, take a listen to it below. Oh, and a fun fact about the track’s cover art: Swae Lee hand-painted it, himself. So, as you can see, he has way more talents then just rapping.

Fat Joe featuring Dre - "So Excited"

Fat Joe is delivering some heat for us this summer 2017. The Terror Squad artist dropped a new banger called "So Excited" featuring Dre from production duo Cool & Dre.

iHeartRadio world premiered the new single on all of Hip Hop and R&B radio stations across the country on Tuesday (August 1). "So Excited" sounds like the perfect, fun summer session whether you're partying at the club or driving down the highway with the music blasting. It's a vibe, for sure. Fat Joe told iHeartRadio about the new smash, "I’m 'So Excited' to have my 1st single 'So Excited' from my upcoming album as this week's iHeartMedia World Premiere aka the real Beyoncé rollout."

Juicy J featuring Offset - "Flood Watch"

Juicy J recruited Migos rapper Offset to collab on his new song named “Flood Watch.” This new track will be stuck in your head from the very first time that you listen to it. Offset being on this adds a nice touch to it -- he and the Three 6 Mafia rapper sound dope together. TM88 produced the new hit. Whether this will be on J’s much-anticipated Rubba Band Business: The Album project is still a mystery. Either way, it’s worth a listen ASAP.

Jazmine Sullivan x Bryson Tiller - "Insecure"

Jazmine Sullivan and Bryson Tiller joined forces for “Insecure,” which is the title track for Issa Rae’s hit HBO series. The second season of the show kicked off recently, so it was the perfect time for this new track to be premiered, and will be featured on the show’s upcoming soundtrack. “Why you gotta be so insecure, when I did all I could do to keep you wanting more?” Jazmine asks her significant other on it. “Why can’t you get up off my back? / I can take a lot of s**t, but I won’t take that.”

“It’s really important to Issa and [director Melina Matsoukas] that the show sounds really fresh and feels very current,” the show’s music supervisor, Kier Lehman, told Entertainment Weekly. “This is the music that’s playing right now, this the music that you hear on the radio, this is the music that’s coming out that you’re streaming online right now or you will be in the next month or two.”

Kungs featuring Olly Murs & Coely - "More Mess"

Kungs rounds up Olly Murs and Coely for an upbeat number called “More Mess,” which takes pages from ‘90s South American funk. Similar to the release of “This Girl," the track is a total dedication to the energetic and tropical dance floors, with a stellar horn section that’ll lift you out of whatever mood you’re in and tossed into the Kungs-land.

Papoose featuring Fetty Wap - "Pickin Up Bags"

Papoose and Fetty Wap may have a new hit on their hands. They just collaborated on “Pickin Up Bags” and it’s hot. This song tells the story of Pap stuntin’ in his life after coming from humble beginnings. And in usual Fetty behavior, he lays catchy vocals on the chorus. “I grew up on public assistance, my family poor/ Now my money stacking, we slammin' them Caddy doors/” Pap raps. “If you tell me that I can't eat, to me that mean war/ N**gas say they packing them ratchets, we carry more If this was New Jack City, I'm Nino, you Al B. Sure.”

Fetty adds: “When you see me, I be pickin' up a bag, right, yeah/ Yeah, ayy, you look like a bag lil' shawty (Shawty)/ It ain't 'bout a bag, don't call me.”

Cassie featuring G-Eazy - "Love A Loser"

After seeing her debut hit, “Me & You,” make a surprising rise on the iTunes chart after the release of Bad Boy’s doc, Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop, Cassie returns with her first new offering in years called “Love A Loser” featuring G-Eazy. It’s a slinky R&B number that hears the siren singing about letting go of a faulty lover. “I’d rather lose a lover than to love a loser/ Everything you did I wouldn’t do it to you/ Got my vision clear so now I’m seeing through ya/ Writing you a letter/ Imma send it to ya,” she sings.

American Authors - "I Wanna Go Out"

Wanna go out? Of course you do. So do American Authors. The band released their new summer anthem "I Wanna Go Out," and it will be your new favorite soundtrack to your weekend. Over an uplifting, danceable rhythm, lead vocalist Zac Barnett sings all about wanting to paint the town red and let loose. He sings, "Hey ya, I wanna go out/Out of my mind/Hey ya, I wanna check out/Step off of my cloud."

Marshmello - "LoVe U"

If there is one thing to know about producer/DJ Marshmello, other than the fact that he makes awesome music, it's that he loves his fans a lot. That's why he gifted them with a new song, appropriately titled "LoVe U" -- and as a free download. It's good to be a part of the Mellogang. He shared a link to the track on social media last week and wrote along with it, "Baby I love you....if u didn't know now you know." Well, we love you too, Marshmello. ❤️

Felix Jaehn x Mike Williams - "Feel Good"

Want to feel good? Lucky for you, Felix Jaehn has teamed up with producer/DJ Mike Williams on their new collab "Feel Good." The new track is a fun summer song about how that special someone can make you feel ... well, so good! In the chorus of the song, you will hear lyrics, "You make me feel goodYou make me feel/Make me feel/Feel, feel good/Feel, feel good." Talk about a feel-good song!

Steve Angello - Genesis

Is this the start of something new for Steve Angello? The producer/DJ/former Swedish House Mafia member released a new two-track EP called Genesis (which literally means the origin of formation of something). Genesis' two songs are "Breaking Kind" featuring MUTEMATH's Paul Meany, and "Rejoice" which features West Virginian Bishop T.D. Jakes. And to tie into the Genesis EP title, before he released the two tracks, he shared on Twitter, "2 songs. The start of a new chapter." Sounds like there are several more new chapters of new music on the way from Steve.

"Breaking Kind" is all about not playing around with someone else's heart. Paul sings in the chorus, "'Cause if you want the sex/We can turn the night into heaven’s light/But if you want this heart/Don't waste your time/If that heart of yours is the breaking kind." This track is one of Steve's favorites as he said of the song on Instagram, "It's one of my favourite songs on the album. Incredible melody and writing and the vocal performance floored me the first time I heard it. It represents the soundtrack of my life. Melodically and musically it hits every emotion I have for display. It moves me."

As for "Rejoice," the track features sermons from T.D. Jakes, and Steve calls it one of the "most powerful pieces of music [he's] every created." He said, "It wasn't written to fill a void or accomplish status - this is pure motivation, inspiration and honesty expressed by an incredible bishop that changed me completely. I've never done anything like it and I've never worked with words that meant more in my entire career. This record is ground-breaking for me as an individual. It came into my life when I needed it the most and I had to make that moment last forever by immortalizing it."

New Politics - "CIA"

New Politics have announced that a new full-length album called Lost In Translation is coming our way in October, and are kicking things off with our first taste of the new record with their new single "CIA." In the song, the guys are breaking all the rules. They literally sing, "My house, I break the law (Break the law)/In my house, I'm like the CIA." In a statement the band said of their new music:

"Lost in Translation represents a new phase in our lives. After years of constant touring, it was important to us that we reinvent ourselves, and wanted to write honest songs about the real things happening in our lives. We spent a lot of quality time together in-between albums as friends, watching movies, hanging out, and talking about our future plans. That brotherly love and bonding initiated the first batch of songs that has helped us shape the album."

Dylan Scott - Dylan Scott (Deluxe Edition)

Country singer/songwriter Dylan Scott released his debut self-titled album almost exactly a year ago, but now, the 26-year-old has breathed some new life into the record by dropping a deluxe edition. The new version of the album includes all previously released 13 songs from the original, in addition to three more songs, "Hook," "Sleeping Beauty," and "Can't Take Her Anywhere."

Sleeping with Sirens - "Empire to Ashes"

Ready for some hot Gossip? Well, you'll have to wait until September 22nd, because that's when Sleeping with Sirens' new album Gossip is being released. BUT, until then, the band has shared a taste of the album with their new single "Empire To Ashes." The song builds from the first verse, to the anthemic, heavy guitar laden chorus, and is about nonconformity/marching to the beat of your own drummer. In the chorus, they sing, "Feels like we're caged animals/Looking for the antidote/To break the chains they put us in."

Jack Johnson - "Sunsets For Somebody Else"

Fix yourself up a big plate of banana pancakes, because Jack Johnson released a brand new single called "Sunsets For Somebody Else." The new song will be included on his upcoming album All the Light (which will drop on Sept. 8th), in addition to his previously released "My Mind Is For Sale." Jack told Billboard of his new single, "I wrote the song 'Sunsets For Somebody Else' while I was on a surf trip in Micronesia. Something about being on boats always pulls songs out of me."

Le Youth featuring Ava Max - "Clap Your Hands"

Le Youth unleashes a ray of sunshine with his funky-charged "Clap Your Hands," which features guest vocals from Ava Max. In a statement for the cut, the DJ unloads major synth in efforts to want to do something fresh and new. “Even more important for me is doing something cool. This record ticked all those boxes. I can't wait for people to hear Ava and see what we've made,” he said in a statement to Billboard
